Oh how we love Saturdays! Got my coffee, got back in bed ...and started my day by enjoying two performances...voted the best live shows, #1 and #2...in rock history! Jimi Hendrix with Band of Gypsies, Machine Gun...then , Allman Bros..Whipping Post...both live at Fillmore East in 1969! These rankings will get no argument from me...what a way to start the day!! 👍🎸

Yo James ... It occurs to me that since I moved to North Dakota about 3 years ago, I've written at least 10 times more songs than I did in the preceeding 20 years during which I played 110 to 150 shows a year... Mostly covers. So, I think it's fair to say, a constant diet of cover tunes doesn't very well foster a spirit of originality...he he... Know what I mean!

Yeah I can see how that busy of a schedule wouldn't leave too much time for kickin back and writing, but I would wager that your set list could be a mile long if you added them all up! You've certainly honed your skills on all those covers and found yourself along the way...!

The trio I worked with for about 9 years...and right up to the last weekend before we drove away from Cali .....had a master working list of around 250 songs from all categories and styles. The upside to doing covers for many years is that one learns formulas from the greats, on phrasing, tone, stylistic nuance, melodic theme and dynamics. I used to know lots of famous guitar solos note for note...when I played them every night. Now, after 3 years, I'd have to woodshed all of them to be able to pull them off. The real takeaway from years of covers is the breadth of vocabulary you must gain, to do them all justice. So....it's a tradeoff. ...but, we had tons of fun those years..!!

James..!! What a terrific song! I hear a blend of Tom Petty, Neil Young and REO Speedwagon in here. You're a fine songwriter and singer, with a bright, upbeat outlook and message! What a pleasure to listen to... I found myself singing along with the chorus during the outro..!!😀🎶

Thanks Stevie...! I've always enjoyed the creative side of things...Even when I was in cover bands I always managed to throw in some originals along the way! Eventually I was in an all original band ( killin time ),but the big time eluded us! Lol

Hi James! I just love this song - mostly because... haha everybody talks to me about their day and I love it when someone asks me how my day is... It is a beautiful song, love the execution of it - it has a Beatles quality to it for me :) Anywho I've put it up as FEATURED TRACK :) Cheerio!!

Thank You Big Time! I'm not sure what excites me more! Being the feature track is too cool and I really appreciate it! The Beatles reference is more than I could ever ask for! My music room is loaded w/ Beatles stuff! I also have an epi John Lennon signature acoustic! Thanks again for your kind support!

this one has a beautiful melody and the lyrics are, well, just so hard and true. Good work. Did you record it all alone or with other musicians? I like the bright sound of it all!

More on Merri. - We got her in the small town of Marion near here, on the anniversary of my mother's birthday and her name was Marian. Plus the tiny kitty had such a merry personality and brought such merriment into our home, we thought between the town name, my mother's name and her personality, Merri was a good name for her. She is sweet and funny.

Hi Stevie, thank you for you patience as we became much more busy these days. Today we managed to enjoy your music again and just checked out the perfect song for these days : ) As we have been to Berlinale film festival, we met a company who is interested in making a film of Elvensheep (animation). This weekend the decision will be made. Thank you for asking for updates : ) And we took a further job as well as spend a lot of time in the animal home. We want to adopt a dog from there and have to build trust. Please wish us good luck in that. How are you? We often think of you and hope you and Nancy are fine. We are looking forward to hear from you. Best wishes, your friends elves & the sheep

As I have just read your post...we are still lounging in bed with our dog and cat and our coffee...which is how we like to start Saturdays. We are so excited about your fabulous development with opportunities for your craft! The positive outcome has already been decided... Believe it! We await only the details...👫👍🎶💥

You will not need "luck" ....this intimates that "maybe" there's not enough skill or artistic nuance. These thoughts are wrong....as your masterful skills and clever artistic expressions are self evident!

Hey Stevie....I'm having issues w/ my gear..Don't know if its the mtr or the pc...I'm not too savvy w/ computers....I'll have to get my daughter to check the pc for me when she's available to come to my place...So for now I'm in limbo until its sorted out...I can still check out things on this site w/ my phone in the mean time!

I love your sense of melody (and the vocal harmonies are quite nice, as well). Nice keyboard layers, too! With the cool arrangement and unique qualities of this, I'm tempted to call it, "Progressive Pop."

Hideaway🎶😎👀

This one was played on a Hamer Eclipse electric gtr with mini humbuckers. I used a real simple drum track, then tracked the rhythm guitar, then the bass....then laid down the lead work in 1 take. Enjoy..!!

True Hideaway, Steve! )))) Good sound, Notes are "waving". I even have a picture in my head. Somewhere at the music store: - Smb. asked you "Hey! Can you play?" And your answer was "just a little bit" right before you start to play ))))))

Hey, Steve! You don't need lyrics for this one. You need just a good drum track a good bass line. If you'll ask me I will write for you )))))))) Are you using Ibanez here? I'm right?
