Thanks Jeff... This song brings back good memories for me. That guitar sound is a home made valve amp

For those of you who aren't yet aware of it.....BB King passed away yesterday at his home in Las Vegas. He was 89. He will surely be missed...and may have influenced more guitarists than any other. R.I.P mighty MR.King !!

It was BB's tone that made me want a semi-hollow body Gibson. He was a great musician, and quite a personality. My brother got to hang out with him when BB was in Fresno years ago. BB gave Rick a pick with "BB" on it and said, "next time I want one of yours."

Yes, what a legacy! My husband Tim was talking about how varied his talents were.... then he started talking about how music has been revolutionary, and how can it be revolutionary any more when it seems to become mainstream... he was referring to MTV. I was never into MTV, not been a big tv person. Tim said he was thinking about writing something about this and I asked him to submit it to Melody Fusion. Anywho.. revolutionary :)

Rob, I very much enjoyed your memorial article about Rick...Thanks for sharing ....

Thank, Stevie. My friend, Ron Morse, posted a similar tribute to Rick on Facebook. I got a kick out of Don Ramirez' comment: Don Ramirez: I think Rick was the first person I ever saw use a SansAmp stompbox (fun fact). Plus, he was a smokin' player. He and Rob together in The Crossing was a force of nature. I got a chance to tell him so, years later, on the facebooks. Rick was certainly "smokin'" but the "force of nature" thing just cracked me up. Maybe he saw us on the night Rick and I nearly came to blows behind Club Fred. We were really ticked with each other, and several people said it was the best show we played. Ha!

You Know...Rob...I can't help but feel a heightened sense of poignancy with "Far Away" in light of recent events. Rick is such a big part of the topical focus in that song ! I'm so glad I got to work on it with you. I wish I had met him and had an opportunity to jamm with him.....

Hey Stevie, Sorry I've been so slow responding. I kind of felt that poignancy as well, and I really appreciate what you brought to the song. I'm sure Rick would have loved to jam with you (and I'd want to join in as well).

Very clean (and rather rockin' too). Nice job! I'm not familiar with the X5D. I've got the X50.

@ Rob....Thank you my California compadre! It's always good to read your kind words. The X5D Korg keyboard is a favorite of mine....Packed with phenomenal sounds!! I've had it for about 15 years. I don't think I could ever outgrow it.

Richard, thanks for taking time to listen to Abandon! That song wrote itself...It started with just a drum sequence I liked and I had no clue what would happen from moment to moment ! I guess that's the joy of music....it has a life all it's own....amen ....

Bill, nice to hear from you bro..! I like the descriptor you used... "fluid"..! That has long been my wish as a guitarist. Ever since I first heard Allan Holdsworth on a Jean Luc Ponty album in 1977 and was just floored by HIS fluidity.....sadly, though I sought that road...I never even got in the same neighborhood with him....but as long as I'm breathin...I'm a still tryin !!

Dear Stevie & Nancy, how are you doing? We are back on Melody Fusion and came across your great new track. The guitar is awesome and the beats are very suitable and emphasize your guitar perfectly. Would be glad to hear from you again. Best wishes, Cian, Mael, Sandro Elvengreen

Here's another one from the same night. It's only the last half of the song, but Rick really tears it up!

Rob, I'm so sorry for your loss. That is a wonderful memory - did you guys play together for quite a while?? Hey tell you what, if you have the inclination, feel free to write about your brother and we'd be honored to post that on our site...

Thank you, Ingrid. Rick and I learned to play together, and from time to time we would work together in bands, write songs together, or just just arrange a casual jam session for the fun of it. I might write something about him. Thank you for that suggestions.

Happy (belated) Birthday, Ingrid. 50? I hit that one 1 3/4 years ago. 50's good, though I think I'll start counting backwards now. I hope you had a great birthday!

Thank you guys! I'm looking forward to great stuff. I had a coffee klatsch at the local coffee shop this morning and a bunch of my friends showed up - that was great! Got a goofy card from my son and the crew at Infront. Life is good :)
